An In Your Face alternative with a free tier

Like In Your Face, BigReminder takes over your screen when a meeting is about to start. It's a simpler app, with a free tier and a one-time Pro option.

How BigReminder differs

No subscription required

Pro is a one-time lifetime purchase, with no subscription. In Your Face offers monthly and yearly subscriptions, or a one-time license.

A free tier that stays free

BigReminder is free for 1 calendar and 1 full-screen reminder a day, with no time limit. In Your Face starts with a free trial.

Mac and Windows

Use it on macOS 13 or later, or try the Windows beta with Google Calendar and Outlook sign-in.

Focused on the reminder

A full-screen reminder with a live countdown and a Join button for Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, Webex, GoTo Meeting and Skype. Enter joins, Esc dismisses.

What In Your Face does that BigReminder doesn't

To be fair: In Your Face covers more ground. According to its website, it runs on iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch as well as Mac and Windows, and it offers themes, event filters, per-event alert overrides, pausing alerts, global keyboard shortcuts and alerts for Apple Reminders. If you need those, it may suit you better.

BigReminder is for people who want the full-screen reminder itself, set up once per calendar, with the option to pay once instead of subscribing.

How BigReminder works

  1. Install BigReminder. On Mac it reads the calendars in the macOS Calendar app; on Windows you sign in with Google or Microsoft.
  2. Pick your calendars and when to be reminded: at the start, or 5, 10 or 15 minutes before.
  3. When it's time, BigReminder fills the screen. Join the call in one click, snooze (Pro) or dismiss.
